Frontier Clinical Research Centre
ABOUT US
The Frontier Clinical Research Centre (FCRC) is the first dedicated centre for all modalities of dentistry-related, patient-based research in Canada. The FCRC is located in Vancouver at the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of British Columbia.
FCRC aims include:
Streamlining and increasing effectiveness of the clinical research processes by: Creating document templates, reviewing ethical applications to diminish queries; monitoring database completion and query resolution on a regular basis so as to meet timelines; creating logs recording patient enrollment, randomization and subject fails; and providing support to faculty and students in the clinical research process.
Increasing patient recruitment and retention by: Creating a positive environment for patients and engaging patients in the clinical trial by sending patients study related or disease specific newsletters; sending reminder emails or phone calls; and answering any questions/concerns at follow up study visits.
Enhancing database accuracy by: Ensuring the database is created to record all data as recorded on patient charts and ensuring both database and patient charts contain data needed for study data analysis as mentioned in the study protocol; Monitoring patient charts and database periodically for data accuracy and completion.
Highlight UBC’s Faculty of Dentistry’s research component: Working closely with researchers within the Faculty of Dentistry and community in order to accomplish this goal.
The FCRC is supported by a generous gift from Frontier Dental Laboratories Inc.
